Ned's lived in the area since 1962, arriving as an 18 year old 'refugee' moving up from London. For half a century he's worked in adult education and training and along the way has found the time to write more than 50 books on a wide range of local topics and subjects. It can be said that his interests are multifarious and varied and some are almost obscure ! One such being a fascination with the use of corrugated iron as a building material and the talk this Friday will explore this facet in an historical context. If you know your chapels you will be familiar with 'tin tabernacles'. If you know your railways you will be familiar with the widespread use of corrugated iron in the railway architecture of the past. Ned will endeavour to link such matters and widen the lecture to look at the variety of buildings where corrugated iron has featured as a construction material.
The requisite Zoom participant email with link will arrive in your Inbox in the morning this Friday 26th March, the day of the lecture. Access to the event will be from 7.30 pm onwards, talk start time 8.00 pm. We hope you can be in the audience.
Zoom is brought to you by the Committee team at SA&HS. This will be our 11th Zoom talk in Spring Series.
