Society Newsletter Issue No. 152 May 2026

Please find on the News tab the Society's Newsletter Issue No. 152 for May 2026, compiled and edited by Richard Totty.  We hope you find it interesting and informative.

4th May 2026

On pages 8 and 9 of the Newsletter, Mike Hodder provides a summary of what to look forward to in this latest Transactions; including details of a paper on the significant excavations undertaken at Roman Acton Trussell over a period of more than 30 years, conducted under the auspices of Penk Valley Archaeological Group with the late Tony Habberley as the lead.  Elsewhere in the Newsletter, Mark Knight has written a detailed report on investigations of the possible site of the former Chapel of St Andrew on a river island between two arms of the Trent at Burton (pages 10-13).  But there's much more in the Newsletter; for example news of the recent successful Society guided visits to the churches at Tong and Claverley, led by John Hunt; and Richard Totty has more 'scandalous' Tales from the Lichfield Bawdy Courts; also confirmation that the reopening date for S-o-T Archives is 6th May (pages 14-15).
