The 4th annual SOTMAS Staffordshire Archaeology Day event is taking place on Saturday 18th April at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, Bethesda Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 3DW. The day school commences at 10.30 am (doors at PM&AG open at 10.00 am) and lasts until 5.00 pm. A number of speakers have been booked:

Shane Kelleher - Staffordshire County Archaeologist

Dr Simon Davies - Archaeology Warwickshire
The presentations range from news of a newly discovered henge in the Peak District, an examination of Iron Age society, the exploration of the Upper Tern Valley, and excavation at the Coton House Farm site just north of Tamworth. There will also be a round up of ongoing work in Staffordshire, together with progress on the Ellastone Cloak Fastener appeal. Regarding the Coton House Farm item, in particular, Simon Davies will discuss the discovery of prehistoric camps and medieval cottages on the banks of the river Tame, together with evidence there of Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, medieval and earlier post-medieval activity.
