The Newsletter starts with an account of A Day in the Life of an Archaeology Volunteer when, out in the field near Alrewas, the recent fine weather was very much ideal for it ! On pages 5 to 15 you will find full details of the Society's new lecture programme for 2026-2027, commencing with a talk at Wade Street Church in Lichfield on Friday 18th September at 8.00 pm. Also on page 15, there is a reminder ** that SA&HS annual Membership subscriptions become due for renewal as at today 1st September, unless already paid - please see what is said. The rates remain the same, not having changed since 2013.
Amongst other content, starting on page 18, there is a fascinating article concerning Weston Park and the contents of its drugs cabinets 200 years ago, with details of an 'inventory' of sorts dated 15th May 1826 and which survives in the Earls of Bradford papers, now kept safe as part of the collections held at the new Staffordshire History Centre in Stafford. Then, towards the end of the Newsletter, various upcoming events taking place across the wider region are listed, in which you may be interested, together with a couple of book reviews along the way. And, of course, there's more ..
